Safety Compliance

D.B.I. Inc. is committed to the protection of all its resources, including people and physical assets from accidental loss.

 

In fulfilling this commitment to protect both people and property, management will provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with legislative requirements and will strive to eliminate any potential hazards which may result in property and environment damage, accidents, personal injury or illness.

Management, workers and contractors are equally responsible for minimizing incidents and accidents within the D.B.I. Safe Work practices and procedures.

Accidental loss can be controlled through good management in combination with active involvement.  Safety is a direct responsibility of all managers, supervisors, employees, and contractors.

D.B.I.’s Safety program is committed to provide clients with fully trained workers that meets industry standard safety training, that know and follow company loading and unloading procedures and have all the required PPE to perform their jobs in a safe and efficient manner. The drivers are required to complete a Field Level Hazard Assessment and a driver’s checklist prior to loading and unloading the units.

All drivers are required to participate in the D.B.I. Drug and Alcohol program that meets the DOT standards and have the following training:

  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods)

  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training)

  • WHMIS GHS

  • eSGO (electronic Safety General Orientation)

  • First Aid

  • H2S

  • Fall Protection

  • OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association)

  • Wildlife/Bear Awareness

  • Forklift & Skid Steer Training

  • Also Several Additional Site Specific Orientations

D.B.I. has a comprehensive safety program that is maintained by a full time Safety person.  D.B.I. is COR certified, is a Syncrude Approved Carrier, belongs to ISNetword, Canqual, Complyworks and Avetta (formally PICS Auditting) Contractor Management Systems and are in compliance with each group.  D.B.I. has an ongoing internal audit program that monitors its safety programs and also completes an external audit every three years to ensure the safety program is both compliant and efficient.

The orientation program includes required training such as TDG, HOS, BOL and general company specific training.  We also complete a driving road test, pre-trip inspection and load securements training.  All new D.B.I. drivers enter into the mentor program with a senior driver for a trial period to receive additional on the job training. Training is completed both on and off site depending on the needs of the client.  We have the facilities to train our employees in classroom or individual training facilities as needed for online training and orientations.
